The Riverside National Cemetery Support Committee
The Riverside National Cemetery Support Committee (RNCSC) is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide upkeep and support to the Riverside National Cemetery while providing activities for veterans, their families, friends, and the community. Comprised of 25 board members and hundreds of sustaining members, the members of the RNCSC strive to be an asset to the Riverside National Cemetery and those who gave all.
The RNCSC formed after the Riverside National Cemetery was built and placed in its current location in 1978. Originally 20 community members came together with a collective mindset to work together to support the cemetery and provide for any of its demands. Providing assistance for veterans, military families and friends with a broad range of services and activities, while also maintaining a relationship with the community as well as an outstanding figure.
The RNCSC gathers funding through donations from the generosity of the community and members that are willing to step-up to assist the RNCSC financially, so they can continue their work in honoring veterans and military personnel. The RNCSC hosts numerous events such as the Concert for Hero’s event, Honor Our Heroes, and The Memorial and Veterans Day Ceremonies. Also, providing services for the families of veterans such as the Remembrance of Love Project, and providing the Indigent Unclaimed Veterans Ceremony.
The RNCSC Supports the Riverside National Cemetery by taking on projects for the beautification of the cemetery, providing maintenance and other necessary needs for the staff of the cemetery. These duties include assisting with erecting and maintaining memorial statues that honor the past and present veterans such as the nationally recognized Prisoner of War Memorial Statue. Everything that the RNCSC does is approved by the director of the Riverside National Cemetery.
The Riverside National Cemetery Support Committee has meetings once a month where they conduct votes and elections with board members. Sustaining members are also welcomed to the meetings and are allowed to vote in elections.
